The same enthusiasts behind Toyota Gazoo Racing’s championship racecars wanted to develop even more curve-hugging accuracy for the next-generation coupe, with an emphasis on additional stability, power, and superior aerodynamics. What’s the end result? A track-ready driver’s automobile that’s all about having a good time.

How did they pull it off? To begin, the GR team added strategically placed high-strength steel, new cross members upfront, and a full-ring frame in the back to enhance the agile characteristics of the current generation 86 chassis.
Then, by using a bigger, naturally aspirated engine, they were able to add approximately 18 percent more horsepower and 11 percent more torque.
