Q: I have a 1998 jetta with an automatic transmission. I do not like the shift points that my tranny has. I heard that if I disconnect the cables from my battery that those shift points are erased! If this is true, can I set my own points that I want my transmission to shift at? I hate the rpms that my car shifts at. From 1st to 2nd it goes up to 3000 rpms. I'd like it if I was down to about 2000. Is any of this possible?
A: yes. accelerate slower. the trans will respond like you mention.
