Q: It's recommended that I use premium gas for my car so it can run smooth I used to use Chevron Supreme but I guess that messed up my engine so which one do you recommend? Bp, Mobil, Shell or others..Thanks
A: All post 1970s vehicles are designed to run on regular unleaded. The premium gas they recommend is for more horsepower from your engine, however, running regular unleaded only decrases your HP by 1/2 a HP to 1 HP max, not a noticable difference. Read the manual that came with the car, or call VW. My 1999.5 Jetta GL has run 152000 miles on regular unleaded without any problems. Now the brand is a different story, as all gas companies use their own special blend to meet government standards. If you dont like chevron/texaco then switch to Mobil, or Shell. Run all 3 you list and determine which one gives you the best results.
