Q: I'm looking on the kal tire site and I'm looking for getting winter tires considering snow will probably be falling in the next couple of months, any idea what the difference is? I'll probably call them in the morning and ask but still thought I'd ask on here :) thanks. yep haha I miss read it, I know all season tires but I thought it had all winter and just winter, so I was thinking what the heck what is the diffrence? thanks :)
A: You mean winter and all season tires? Winter tires have a rubber compound formulated to stay pliable and provide grip in freezing temperatures, they have a tread design to bite in snow, slush and have sipes to provide grip on ice. All season tire is a compromise tire, because people expect a long tire life out of this type of tire it is really not very good in harsh winter conditions. For safety, go with winter tires on all 4 wheels.
