Q: Just recently got an FJ, how do you get it into 4wd and which settings do you use for various terrain? havent looked at the manual any yet im pretty sure an fj is a beast offroad? GT
A: Get out the manual that came with the car. Good Advice..... this is not a real 4x4 vehicle, stay on dry compact dirt roads or you'll be paying for a very expensive tow that your insurance company will NOT PAY! I do extreme difficult 4x4ing and we see yuppies that are in dire straights quite often. Most of us are so sick of unexperienced yuppie off roaders, that we have left them stuck when we've lectured them about being off road and they copped an attitude! Trust me it is expensive for a "off road recovery". I know someone that has a "recovery" service in one of the serious offroad areas and it sometimes goes into 1,000's of dollars. He has had to use a D8 Cat to get some jokers out from some of the areas.
