Q: suzuki sv 1000s--handlebars-I would like to fit higher bars to my faired sv-which best option--buy kit --change yoke and extend cables and lines put straight renthol bars on???? or go for heli raised clip ons -they will give max 2inches taller and an inch back-???? any advice on doing the job myself or problems i may have would be recieved with many thanks. the whole idea is to releive myself of wrist and back ache without changing my bike.
A: I take it your a tall person? if you are then you have to consider other things as well, positioning of the rear sets for one. Perhaps you should give it to a mod shop and have a quotation done or even pay for a consultation and a walk through then buy the parts you require. To be honest i'm a short ars'e and i've never had to modify a bike i can just about get one foot tippy toed down on the deck with a 750 KTM. Do a bit of experimentation first before you do anything with modifications. Adjust your preload, drop it down a bit you'll have to adjust your tyre pressure to suit the preload. And adjust the wheel base to suit as well.
