Q: I got an old saginaw 4 speed lying around that i yanked from a 57 chevy. Would I be able to use it on a 389?

A: All the GM input shafts were standardized after 1960 (bless them). I think it'll work, even if it's originally from a 57. Be careful, though. They're not the strongest transmission ever made.
