Q: I am planning to buy a used one with those years. I was wondering if they are a good car or not. I've been to edmunds.com and they gave Sunfires a poor rating, but the consumer ratings weren't bad.

A: With the Sunfire you get what you pay for. If you really have your mind set on one...try and get one with the 2.2L Ecotech DOHC engine. It is much better then the other engines offered for those vehicles. If you get a Sunfire with the 2.4L DOHC Engine...make sure the water pump and timing belt has been done. They need to be replaced every 100,000kms and it's a very big job. Time and $$ wise. Bearings, and bushings are a common thing to be replaced aswell. Good Luck.
