Q: Hi what would happen if I ran a standard Peugeot 206 (1.4 petrol) on RON 98 fuel? Would I see a performance increase or would it just damage the engine. At the moment I see a massive loss of power if I fill up with regular unleaded at Morrisons than if if I use regular unleaded at Shell. (Not related to the RON 98 questions but I just thought I would say.)
A: My brother in law has a 206, he finds that if he fills up with regular at the supermarkets, he has a cutting out problem, fill up with ordinary regular (95 RON) at the likes of Shell or BP then the cutting out problem disappears, if he fills up with 98 or 99 RON then he doesn't notice any difference in performance but does get a few more miles for his tankful than he would with 95 RON.
