Q: i noticed my oil gauge temperature was going up in my car it was just over 70 degrees.so i put in new oil to fill it up.it seems ok and the temperature has gone down.but if i drive a good distance it will go up again.is this normal?what happens if it gets too hot?i dont know anything about cars and engines any help gladly appreciated just so im not ripped off by mechanics and will have a fair idea when i go to a garage.(note i got it serviced in oct 2007 and just put it through the nct* and it passed) nct*=national car test

A: Are you sure that you mean the oil gauge? In a 206, there is sometimes an oil PRESSURE gauge, and always a water TEMPERATURE gauge. The oil pressure should be calibrated in bar, the water temperature in degrees celcius, which should normally run at between 80 & 100 degrees. Did you actually properly check the fluid levels or just add more? If you're unsure, ask someone who knows to actually show you how to do this properly - it may save you a lot of bills!
