Q: i just parked my peugeot 205 and noticed: 1. the fan, which usually works when i switch off the car, does not work. 2. i head a "bubbling" sound. when i opened the hood i saw that the water in the water\antifreeze container was bubbling (steaming hot). i'd be grateful if someone could help me with this problem.

A: Hi 205 owner. Your fuses are not in the glove box, but above the map holder area, and that silver thing for the 205 sensor was not used on every year from 1983 to 1998 You didn't say your year and engine size....not a gti? most people mention that.. In later years, the two fuses under the hood are the main fuses for EVERYTHING, not just the fan. Has EVERYTHING stopped working? No. I think you need MORE coolant in your system. Have you checked that? If you add more coolant, then you have to let the trapped air escape from this bolt. See the bolt extending HIGH above the thermostat housing in this photo? http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh155/trevor_trillion/306thermostat003.jpg OR Your fan is not working at all. Hot water in the engine is not being cooled by the fan and radiator, thus boiling! 99 - 102 degrees C. The temperature sensor switch for the fan is a round switch directly below the fat radiator hose. Have the two blue wires come loose? If you pull out the plug/connector and join the two wires with a short wire, the fan should come ON. This is a test for the functioning of the fan switch. The FAN MOTOR does not last forever. You can add 12 volts directly to the fan motor and test it in place. If not, use a fan from a 205, 306, 405, they are all the same motor, but different plastic fan blades. FINALLY>>> your thermostat! Someone else just asked that question, see my answer, please, testing and replacing the thermostat in a 205 or 306::: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080615104127AAjCYSq&r=w#NbUvWzq7UzZRUbgSteQp THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM and you should not drive again until it is resolved. An overheated engine can cause warping of the engine head. EXpensive to repair!
