How do the cooling fans work on a Peugeot 406 with climate control?

Q: The non functioning fan appears to be electrically connected, when I spin it the first fan kicks over. The Haynes manual doesn't cover the Climate Control version. I have checked and changed the Bitron sensor, checked the other two sensors and I'm a qualified electronics engineer with 25 years expoerience so don't be afraid of supplying detailed information

A: Peugeot 406 cooling fans, are a very complicated system for the DIY mechanic. They are linked to the climate control/AC. and are controlled by the management system. There are a few sensors involved as well, so on this one, you are better off taking it to Peugeot and a quick diagnostic plug in will tell them what's wrong. The chances are, unless it's a motor fault you will not be able to sort this out yourself.
