replace waterpump on peugeot 306 1.9 diesel?

Q: If anybody knows how to do it please please get back to me

A: Basic steps are here, but you should buy a book, it will more than pay for itself with tips and photos 1. disconnect battery so the car cannot possible start. 2. drain the water by the radiator drain valve, or discoonect lower hose. 3. Remove timing covers, plastic or metal, I think there are 3? 4. The workspace is tight, you may have to push hoses downwards along the inner fender? You probably have to remove the auxiliary drive belts to things like alternator and power steering at this point too. 5. You have to remove the crankshaft pulley. in order to remove the lowest cover. 6. Now you are staring at the timing belt. You have to block the camshaft and lower crankcase gear from EVER turning, but first you turn the whole system by hand until special holes line up with holes in the motor block. 7. Insert a 6mm? or 8mm or 10mm bolt into these holes, whichever is called for on your Peugeot. Now the gears will never move. good! 8. release the tension on the tensioner pulley, with a square 8mm bar, I think?. 9. remove the old belt, throw it away. 10. remove the water pump, and totally remove all gasket residue flakes carefully from the soft aluminium engine block surfaces. Notice the size of the water pump diameter, because sometimes TWO different pumps are used by Peugeot depending on your chassis number. 11. Install new gasket and pump. use proper torque on bolts. 12.Install New tensioner pulley .(old ones can make noises) 13. Install new belt while you have the engine open already. Adjust the tensioner tight enough so that the belt can be twisted by your thumb and forefinger just 90 degrees and no more. 14 .Remove blocking bolts. 15. Turn complete new system two complete rotations by hand. Clockwise, I think, but now I am not sure at 11pm and 3 glasses of wine, ha ha. 16. Do your "holes" return to the exact same place? good. 17. Check the tension again with twisting motion by thumb and forefinger, 90 degrees? still good? REPEAT step 15 and check again!!! 18. Replace all those things in reverse order. 19. Refill cooling system with new coolant. 20. reconnect battery, I'm sure you might have some ECU issues to deal with?? 21. Start up car, check for leaks and sounds. Bleed air out of cooling system. Not bleed, but allow air to escape.. I repeat....buy a book specific to your 306 diesel engine, there may be something I omitted. and photos help you tremendously. This is a 6 hour job your first time. time consuming but not impossible.
