i have a 1.9 M reg peugeot 306. The headlights have suddenly stopped working but the full beam still works.?

Q: All the other lights are working it just seems to be the headlights. does any one know what may be causing this and also how it can be fixed? the car is definately a 1.9. it is a diesel. thanks for the help but all this stuff with fuses and relays sounds really confusing to me! think im just going to go to a garage rather than take a look myself! cheers again though!!!

A: I have the Peugeot 306 electrical schematic in front of me now. 30 fuses in the fusebox. All 306's except the Gti- 6 speed model. Hmmm, strange. I see fuse #19 (10 Amps) for the High beams, full beams. There is a relay block of course. The high beam and low beam "filaments" are inside the same bulb, and these filaments are BOTH controlled by the same relay, and the same fuse. If fuse #19 is burned out, you will also lose your dashboard indicator lamps for 1)Parking light 2) full beam 3) low beam . Nothing else. I would therefore guess that your fuse #19 is fine, but, indeed, both low beam filaments are burned out within the same short timespan. (note..IF you have and early model 306, with only 13 fuses.....then fuse #1 controls your headlamps. But with a 1.9 engine, I think your car is newer than..1997. Are you sure your engine isn't a 1.8? 1.9 was a diesel.)
