Q: Hi does anyone know where the gearbox oil level indicator/ fill hole is on a Peugeot 306 1.9 diesel 96 N-Reg? Its the one with the valve under white cap. Will someone please save my sanity and tell me? Thanks in advance.

A: There is no "indicator" for the level. You just fill it til it starts to run out. (unless you have an automatic gearbox, then you fill it through the dipstick hole.) Here is a photo of the manual MA5 gearbox. You can see the fill-plug...it is removed with an 8mm square bar. Not a hexagon allen/imbus wrench. And NOT A 17 or 19 mm socket. http://www.suzukituning.com/PSA/MA5%20Gearbox/ma5gearratio.htm The fill plug is in the center of the photo, but the MA5 gearbox is out of the car. AND THIS PHOTO is upside down from the reality of being in the car. Do you see the little metal "bump" near the fill plug? The "drain plug" is near the top of the photo; it is copper coloured and seen behind a black wire. Again, this photo is upside down from reality, in the car. You can see this fill plug yourself, if you remove the left front tyre, and look directly at the gearbox. Or, if the wheel is turned to the maximum left, you can see the filler plug near the front edge of the gearbox. More questions? You may email me from my profile page.
