I have a 2001 Peugeot 206 1.4 Petrol.?

Q: I have just done about 40 miles and my engine light started flashing and it felt like I was losing speed. I pulled over put the hazards on and turned the car off. Upon getting out there was a burning smell. I restarted the car after 3 minutes - no problems temp gauge still below half. I have checked the oil and water and they are fine?!?!? Any Ideas???

A: A good nose KNOWS the different smells. 1. burning brakes or clutch disc 2. smoking oil on the hot engine 3. coolant smell on the engine. However, only #1 will cause a loss of speed, or if brake pads are stuck against disc. Oh yes...never trust the Peugeot STOP ENGINE light to come on soon enough. It is sometimes too late, and you have aluminum warpage. Please explain these symptoms to someone you trust today. It will happen again.
