Q: im not best on cars but how do i know how many valves my car is?? its a 1.4i lx 2001. just wondering while i was on here. thanks.
A: There were two different 1.4 engines: 1.4 L (1360 cc) TU3 I4, 75 PS (74 hp/55 kW) ...(8 valves!) 1.4 L (1360 cc) ET3 16v I4, 88 PS (87 hp/65 kW) (16 valves) Look under the bonnet. The 16 valve engines have VVT embossed in raised letters on the valve cover. Or..Look on your paperwork, registration, to see the horsepower of your engine. The 87 hp car has 16 valves. Others have 8 valves. I've NEVER heard of a 206 with 12 valves, NOR a TU4 engine. Only Tu1, TU3, TU9. Later, came the TU5 1.6 litre. HERE is every 1.4 liter engine for the 206 ever made.
