broken 306 boot light?

Q: the inside boot light on my 1997 peugeot 306 doesnt turn on when the boot is open, the bulb deffinatly works but the voltage supply is slightly lower than tested on another 306. no broken fuses. cant find the sensor to check that out any suggestions please?? cheers Greg

A: The thinnest possible metal is used to touch the sides of the lamp. After a few years it just doesn't have any "squeeze" left in it. You'll have to jam some tweezers in the socket and make it touch the lamp again. Or add a toothpick for pressure. I do this regularly on my Peugeots from the 1990's. Soon, the same thing will happen to your license plate lights, and reverse-white lamp, red mist lamps. Second thought...is there also a brown or black or green/yellow ground wire to this socket? Follow it to a good solid unrusted grounding.
