Peugeot 206cc accelorator problems?

Q: Bought a Peugeot 206cc 2litre 3 weeks ago. I was warned about these cars having a leaky roof and it's true. Dealership said it wasn't leaking when they had it! yeah, right! Anyway, whilst driving, my accelorator lost resistance and flopped to the floor and had to 'floor it' to make it do at least 25mph. Called the AA and he said the pin which looks like a hair clip, pinged off so he used those black cable ties and I'm off again! Great? no!..now there's not as much power in the acceleration. He said he would set it as to make sure it wasn't over revving. Is it possible he set it too low? My accleration used to make your back pin to the seat. now I feel like I'm driving some old banger. Any ideas on how these things should be set. Should I get warrantee? I was told it's not worth the paper it's printed on. Someone help :-(

A: The cable tie is only meant as a temporary fix. Get a new pin fitted and your acceleration will be restored. It will cost very little. The pin will not be covered by any warranty and yes it's true warranties are usually not worth the paper they are written on. As for the leaky roof have a look on your registration document for a previous keeper, If one is named you could try contacting this person and if they can confirm the car had a leaky roof when they parted with the car the garage will have some explaining to do.
