Replacing gearshift linake on Peugeot 106 (T Plate)?

Q: At the weekend the gear stick in my Peugeot 106 went really loose and wobbly, making it impossible for me to put it into gear. The RAC informed me that the gearshift linkage was in really bad condition and to get the whole thing replaced as all the links were past their best. I was wondering whether this was something someone of very little experience of cars (ie me) could do or if not then how much roughly would it cost to fix. I just want a rough idea as I am about to phone around some local garages and do not want to be ripped off.

A: They are very easy to replace, and could be done with just a plain blade screwdriver and a pair of pliers. You need to buy them from the Peugeot dealers though? They are basically metal rods with plastic ball ends that clip onto the linkage.Do 1 at a time and you will manage no bother.Hope this helps
