Peugeot 206 problem. White smoke from exhaust?

Q: For a couple of mornings now my car is emitting great big clouds of white smoke from the exhaust when I start it from cold. When I turn the key to start the engine, it doesn't even turn over and it can take about three attempts before it starts. When it does start the white smoke comes billowing out and smells awful. In addition the oil indicator is saying the levels are dangerously low but when I check the actual oil levels by looking at the dipstick, these read as normal. Peugeot have looked at the car, run diagnostic and decontamination tests which have all come back as normal. They can't find anything wrong with it. Has anyone had this problem or do they have any idea what might be the cause?

A: The more likely symptom for white smoke from exhaust is piston rings are worn out . Due to this there might be oil leakage and engine oil which is meant for engine lubrication might have entered the combustion chamber. Burning of engine oil produces white smoke. You should quickly change the piston rings as if you ignore this problem this can cause engine mal-functioning.
