Problems with Peugeot 106 1.1L Petrol?

Q: There's a list of stuff that's up with my car. 1. Handbrake light on dashboard flickers at random times. 2. Knocking to be heard when turning/braking suddenly. 3. Clutch pedal seems to have lost all it's spring-back overnight. Also, if I'm crawling along in third, say, and I stamp my foot down, it used to just either start going faster or stutter, like a normal car. However now if I stamp my foot down it sounds like the clutch isn't even there, the engine screams as if my foot is on the clutch. HELP!!

A: Here are my ideas quickly: 1. handbrake light....on some models of Peugeot there is a 12 volt warning wire on your front brake pads. When the pads get TOO THIN, the 12 volts connects to your metal caliper to warn you. Check that. MAYBE the 106 has a low brake fluid level sensor for that too? don't know. ORRR....the little push switch below the handbrake lever is kinda stuck in a down position? unlikely, but it happens. 2. Knocking sound. CV joint. Constant velocity joint. The one that is knocking is the one on the OUTSIDE of the turning circle. As you turn left, the right driveshaft works harder and faster... and knocks. It is worn out too. I'll bet when you turn right, no sound is heard. That side is still good. (or visa versa) Braking suddenly? Hmm maybe one of your brake discs in front is not perfectly flat anymore? bump bump bump, can you feel the bumping through the steering wheel at the same time? Don't forget it could be that side's wheel bearing, in the center of your wheel hub. Jack the car up one inch off the ground, spin wheel with hand, listen for scraping sound? 3. Clutch driven plate is worn down too thin. When you accelerate, the clutch does not "grab" the flywheel of the engine, and the engine just spins without a load on it. Can you smell that funny clutch burn smell too? Have you lost the acceleration to overtake some grandpa driving slowly on Sunday? CLUTCH. The "springyness" in your clutch is the big heavy clutch Spring. 10 pounds of metal, has lost its ummph= power, I suppose. Also check you clutch cable for a frayed stretch? unlikely, but possible. You'll need all 3: clutch spring, plate, release bearing sold as a set.
