Q: got a 106 gti...and ive got a feeling theres an ignition problem...misfiring, holding the revs, exhaust spitting...does anybody know if the coils in the coilpacks can be replaced individually or is it the whole coilpack that needs to be replaced?any other ideas what the problem could be?was thinking spark plugs..other than that im baffled!help would be appreciated, cheers!

A: If this car uses the same 1.6 16v engine thats fitted to the Saxo VTS then the coil pack is replaced as one complete unit, though you may be able to buy the 4 spark plug insulators fitted to it separately. When you say the revs are holding... you mean they are sticking on too high? You may have a faulty stepper motor, this controls the idle speed. To be honest i would book the car in at a main dealer or garage with decent diagnostic equipment and have them look at it... it's best to do this first than go throwing money at the thing not knowing if you are looking at the problem area!
