Q: I had my new (ish) Peugeot 206 delivered today and whilst it has full service history it has no manual!!! Mostly it is straight forward but there are a couple of buttons I'm not sure about... One is next to the handbrake and has a dot with several semicircular lines at one side, a bit like this o)))) What does it do???? Also, on the key there is a big button (for locking and unlocking the doors) and a small button - what is this for? I've pressed it and it makes a locky noise and the lights flash... It only works after pressing the big button to lock the doors.... Oh, and one last thing - the climate control panel doesn't light up when I switch the lights on. Is it supposed to? Thank you, sorry to be so blonde!!! ;o)

A: The button by the handbrake is used to turn the interior alarm sensors off when you lock the car. This should be used when you leave your dog locked in the car etc. If you do not deactivate the sensors then the dog will set the car alarm off. The little button on the key is for deadlocking. When the car is locked you press the button to deadlock it. Once the car has been deadlocked it is impossible to pull the door locks up, even if someone was to smash the window in order to steal your car they would still not be able to unlock the doors. With regards to the climate control panel, generally when you switch the head-lights on this, panel will dim so it doesn't dazzle the driver. If this is not happening then the bulbs behind the unit may be blown and will need replacing. Hope this helps..
