Q: i have a peugeot 306 xl 1.4 1996 and all my indicators work but my hazard lights don't work and when the button is pressed the revs drop a little lower...... can anyone help me please!!!!!!!!

A: There are 4 bulbs for your "hazard lights", not two. I think this is all contolled by fuse #6, but if your indicators work, then a fuse is NOT the problem. Even when your car is turned OFF, the hazard lights should work. Because your turn indicators work, this tells me that the flasher relay IS WORKING FINE. It is a light gray, cubical relay, 3 cm each dimension, located among the fuses. When you pull it out, you will see 3 flat prongs on it, and the numbers: 2042103 12V 42/92 W DOT A 73385 or something similar. I suspect the dashboard hazard switch itself is the problem. When you push the switch in... a short circuit happens to drop your "revs" a bit. #1. If you could exchange relays with another GOOD 306, and have NO PROBLEM, this would prove your relay is at fault. #2. If Exchanging relays creates no solution to the problem, this proves your hazard switch is at fault. You need a new dashboard switch. From the 306 wiring schematic in front of me now, this seems to be a complicated switch with 8 connections made by a White or Black plastic connector. I have had problems with Peugeot dashboard switches from the early 1990's too. (Fog lamp). They don't last forever. You could get a cheap relay or switch from a "breaker". This item is not in demand, and should be very low priced. (from my knowledge, the same switch is found in a 205 (1987-1998) PS! my brother in law sells used BMW's. He hates BMW electronics. ALL cars have electrical problems, especially after 10 years.
