Q:

A: NO. The 3.0 V6 engine is much heavier than the TU 205 engine. The exhaust pipe exit is different. The V6 is fuel injected, and the V6 is a wider engine found on the wider cars, the 607 and the 407. Therefore, you would need heavier front struts, springs, torsion bar, bigger disc brakes, you would also need to replace the entire 205 front suspension. YIKES. Even the motor mounting locations are Very different. The engine is taller than a TU-205, and would not allow closing the bonnet. The engine would not fit into the 205 engine compartment. MAYBE it fits into a 306, I've heard this has been done ONCE. Fuel injection versus carburettors: I'm not really sure about the internal shape of the heads of the 3.0 V6. Perhaps the internal shape allows for only an "injected spray only" and the scientific swirling of gas vapours designed for this shape. In a carburettor, the air/fuel is mixed in the throat of the carb, then the piston sucks the mixture downwards. The mixture is exploded in a different shaped space. Therefore, you might get TERRIBLE petrol mileage. PLUS, there is no "normal" intake manifold (for carbs) on the V6, with a big hole to place a carb! You would need ....ah impossible. I suggest selling your 205 completely. Then, instead of big money for a V6 and mechanical work....just buy an older, used model 106 with the 16 valve engine. Zero to 60mph in 8.4 seconds. OR... if your 205 is already a GTi??? then you could add a 1.9 XU engine. Your 205 is NOT a GTi? Then you could add a 1.6 litre XU51C (found in some 205's) or 1.9 XU ??? carb-engine with Weber carburettor. These big engines are also found on many 405's and should be cheap and easy to find. The driveshafts of the 205 will fit into the gearbox of the 405 engines, I THINK??? I think they're the same length? You'll still have big mechanical costs, and several installation modifications. (heavier suspension to keep the front end UP.)
