Q: Hi everyone and thanx in advance, I'm a Mexican citizen and I own a Peugeot 307cc, I work in US (I have a TN Visa) But I would like to know if I can import or If there is a way so that I can temporary bring my car to US.

A: Since your 307 was designed for gasoline in Mexico, it probably uses octane 87 or 89, or 91. GOOD. A European engine would be designed to run on 95 or 98 octane, not available in the USA. (NOT GOOD.) IF your car is less than 5 years old, you will have to arrange paperwork that promises you will NOT sell it. IF your car is older than 5 years, you will have to pay IMPORT TAXES if you sell it in the USA. If you work in Tennessee, then you probably will have to have a Tennessee driver's license, and TN license plates. Ask the county courthouse about this. I hope your 307 is "paid off" at the bank, and the clear title is in your name ONLY, because usually the banks will not allow a car to go out of the country. Be SURE to ask a local insurance company about insuring your "Peugeot" unknown/ not sold, in the USA since 1991. ASK before you bring the car. You don't want insurance of 1200 dollars per year. Your insurance rates will probably start at a very high rate, being a foreign driver. (Even though I am American, I haven't driven my own car in the USA for 16 years. Insurance rates are VERY high for me to re-start)
