Should I find another car sales room?

Q: I bought a used Peugeot 2006 last summer and now I want to trade it in for a newer version at the same place. I emailed the place where I bought it from (I emailed it to 3 different addresses within the company), and haven't heard a dickie bird. I even wished them all a Happy New Year too! By the way, the company is still in existence before you ask. What should I do now?

A: If you still have the car salesman's business card (or remember his/her name, and it is probably on your previous purchase contract) ring them, and ask for that person. If he/she is still in their employ, re-introduce yourself, explain that you appreciated their assistance during your last purchase, and explain that you are in the market for a newer Peugeot. I'm sure that this person will appreciate the repeat business and therefore be more willing to cut you a good deal. Don't go the e-mail route on this one. I spent a couple of years working for GM auto dealerships, and I know for a fact that all the e-mails (and faxes) come into one place---the main office. Then, they're sent to wherever---with MOST of them being to the service department, with about 90% of them being complaints. Either ring them up and ask for the person, or simply go there in person. Good luck on your new purchase---if you think you need to do this. Quite frankly, if it were me, and there is nothing wrong with your 2006---keep it, and bank your money. Just a thought.
