Peugeot 306 Locking Problem?

Q: Hi there, I know this is acommon fault with this model but I cant find details relating to my specific problem. When i go to lock my drivers side door - the locks all pop down then up again. When i go to my passenger side door and lock, the knobs all stay down. well almost all the time - occasionally the boot door lock goes into a spasm where it cant decide to lock/unlock - this happens when the passenger lock hasnt locked the drivers door. Ive just finished taking my doors off (3dr model) and checked the wiring looms at the door connection and they all seem fine - any clues - its driving me mad! Thanks

A: Have you checked the actual wiring to the doors by peeling back the rubber boot on the harnesses just before they connect to the doors as these wires can easily break close to the connectors. Also check there isn't any corrosion in the connectors by unscrewing them from the doors. Check the condition of the locking motor in the tailgate. The plastic end has a habit of unclipping itself from the motor and can jam the motor in some cases. If all these are ok i would suspect you may have a faulty latch or locking motor in one of the front doors (not sue if the 306 uses latches with a removable locking motor or uses a complete latch withe motor built into it). Good luck!
