Q: I have a 1998 peugeot 106 which I've had for about a year. When it rains really heavily I end up with a huge puddle in my driver side footwell. I don't have a sunroof, and I have checked all the seals. I can't tell where it's coming from and it's a real nusiance at the moment. I'd kind of like an idea what it is before I take it to see a garage. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?? Cheers

A: When rainwater rolls down the windscreen, it goes into a plastic tub. You'll see the windscreen wiper motor in there too. This "tub" is drained to the ground by two rubber hoses, one on each side. Often, and certainly since your car was made in 1998, these rubber hoses get clogged with dust, dirt, leaves, tree seeds, insect cocoons, etc. Find these rubber drain hoses and ream them out with a long coat-hanger wire... GENTLY. Then purposely pour some water in there to flush it out very well. You'll see water coming out under the car. water is NOW rising up very high and flooding over your fresh air intake behind the dashboard.
