Q: my clutch must be ok.sometimes when im sitting with the engine running in neutral the car makes a clunking noise and makes a slight screetching noise then stops.and it ont go in2 gear sometimes as well...any ideas???
A: Any clutch can either SLIP (engine races, car doesn't accellerate) or GRAB (gears hard to engage, scrunching noises). A third sympton is the thrust bearing whining when the clutch is just beginning to take up drive from standstill. The thrust bearing can often last a surprisingly long time in this cond; on the other hand it might suddenly collapse on you.
