why does my peugeot 206 1.4hdi have a shake in the gearstick at 50mph+going up gears?have chanaged driveshafts

Q:

A: The gearstick is only connected to ONE thing...the transmission linkage (not the internal moving parts). The driveshaft you have changed is probably good, otherwise you would have shaking front wheels! I am totally guessing (since nobody has answered you in two full days) that your gearshift linkage is being vibrated by somehow touching the exhaust pipe? If your "motor mounts" are not tight, then the whole engine can vibrate (especially upon changing gears). MOTOR MOUNT TEST: In your driveway, have someone watch your engine (with bonnet open) while you shift repeatedly into first... then reverse. Drive only three feet each time. Does the engine JERK up or down upon release of the clutch? Do you see "play" where the engine is "mounted = fastened" to the car body? This is a good question for a mechanic that is right there standing next to your car......good luck.
