Q: It is the 1.6 xl automatic version (petrol) and and has got half of newmarket flummoxed!

A: There are two possible engines, 1.6 litres: The first has the carburetor towards the rear of the engine. When looking at the engine, the oil filler cap is right smack dab in the center of the engine. It is a round cap about 4 inches in diameter. You will see the black rectangular metal valve cover in front of the carburettor. The oil filler cap is the round cap on top of this black rectangular valve cover. I'll search for a photo for you..wait a minute.... this photo shows some white painted squigly line on the valve cover. The oil filler cap is directly to the right of this white paint. LEFT CLICK YOUR MOUSE ON photo image #3, the engine..... http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk/iad/viewimage?emcode=8623430&reference=0/862/343/0_-1770265473.jpg&adheading=Peugeot+205+Roland+Garros+Ltd+Edn+Convertible+1990%2C+128%2C500+miles%2C+%A3395&sid=xz3cG82DnQ9551347 The 5th photo shows the engine. Oil filler cap is above the word, "See", in "See photo". http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk/iad/motors/cars_for_sale/peugeot/205/object?emcode=8648106&sid=xz3cG82DnQ9551347 THE SECOND TYPE OF 1.6 litre engine was also available in the 405 during the same time period (early 90's). Here, the carburetor is towards the front, and the oil fill cap is about 3 inches round, and PULLS STRAIGHT UP, it doesn't twist very much, and has two rubber hoses attatched, to two plastic arms. You might PRY it upwards with a screw driver? Here's a photo of that engine: later, please still looking.
