Q: I have a 98 ford tauras with a 3.0 L v6. It is an automatic. People always say that its not a race car and I know that. But I still do think it has some power. My friend got a mercury cougar. Its a 99 with the 2.5 L. v6 engine. His is a manual. I almost think my tauras has a chance at winning it in a 0-60 mph race. What do you think? I dont want to try racing (its illegal) so you tell me. Both cars are stock with nothing done to them.

A: I am sure the Cougar would win easily. The 3.0L V6 in the Ford has 145HP. The car weighs 3400ibs. 0-60mph in 10.0 seconds flat for manual version. About 0.5 seconds slower for automatic. The 2.5L V6 in the Mercury has 170HP The car weighs 2900ibs. 0-60mph in 7.8 seconds. Having a bigger engine does not mean having more power. It has to do with the engine's design, compression, the gas it uses, the air intake it uses, the exhaust it uses, etc.
