Q: Pardon me for the ignorance. If i were to buy myself a used (say...2003 model) Jaguar S-type and i want the ride (comfort / bounce) to at least become closest to an original feel of a brand new S-type, should i replace the shocks? suspension? struts? Any info would be great!

A: okay, well i used to have an older infiniti q45 which basically had the same suspension as a jag b/c the originals were supposedly designed by nissan/jag people. anyway, take it into the dealership. they'll tell you what needs to be replaced and hopefully it will be minimal. i think my car had like 4-6 suspension mounts. they were cracking and loose which caused the car to jerk when putting it into reverse/park. only problem is that considering the age of the car i couldn't just buy the mounts as they didn't come separate. so i had to buy a whole new suspension which included new mounts which was NOT cheap. hopefully it will just be the shocks/struts in your case. new QUALITY tires will also improve ride performance. once you make the repairs though, the ride will be smooth as silk.... take it to the dealership let them run the vin and you can get the maintenence history & let them run a diagnostic as well since they have all the necessary computers that most places don't have. that way you can take it to a shop of your choice once you know all the issues.
