Q: I have a 1996 volvo 850 and when ever i open the driver side door the hinge makes a loud popping sound. It looks like it is stuck somewhere, but i dont know where. Is it worth fixing or is it ok to just stay like that because im not on a very big buget.
A: Are you sure it's the hinge and not the door rubbing against the fender? If the car had bumped into something the front fender might have shifted back slightly causing the door to rub against the fender when opening. Look closely at the gap between the door & fender during opening. You might even notice the paint is worn down at the contact point. If you find that it is the problem you can loosen the front fender and shift it forward again.
