Q: what are the 0-60 times for the 94'-98' mustangs with manual trannys, i am wondering what the difference is in performance between the 5.0L engine v.s. the 4.6L engine? i know every year is a little diffract so if you could post every year you know i would appreciate it. also, how many miles are too many for this car, i want to buy one and i was thinking i would cap the miles at between 75k and 100k miles for cars i would look at

A: Go look here: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60_Quarter_Mile_Times/F_0-60times.html Looks like right around 15 seconds. Manual transmissions, unless you are a remarkably good driver, have a tendency to be slower than automatics. This is due to the driver being just slightly slower at shifting than a computer is. And that's assuming best case driving. As far as how many miles.....why would you cap the miles at 75-100k? On a 1994 car, that would assume the driver put less than 5,500 miles on the car each year. Seeing as the average is around 12-14,000 a year, that's ridiculously low. Even if you do find a car like that, most sellers are going to charge a premium for the low miles. Too many miles for this car, would be in excess of 200,000. Anything less than that, is a perfectly normal amount of miles. For a 1998, anything less than around 150,000. Lastly, and as a side note, number of miles is almost a worthless bit of information. Say I've got two Mustangs to sell you. One has 42,000 miles. The other has 140,000. The one with 42,000 miles, I've driven into the ground, barely maintained it, raced it every chance I can. It looks clean, but the engine is ragged to death. The other one, belongs to my wife, and has never seen more than 70mph, regular oil changes and tune ups, etc. So what good would it be to get the lower mileage one? While you're out shopping, keep in mind that the odometer is absolutely no gauge whatsoever of how the vehicle has been maintained. Just some helpful advice.
