Automatic and Shift,Compare and Contrast?

Q: i looking for a car, well i don't know how to drive yet, won't be 15 till next year.but i just looking at cars and stuff like that;you know curious. but i want to the difference between shift and automatic,i mean whats the difference, what is it exactly?please give me detailed answers?

A: I'm going to write a bit of a narrative to explain how someone drives both For a shift/manual/stick you get in your car, turn the key, push in the clutch and move the shifter in an L or upside L shape to get to the R (reverse) gear, release the clutch pedal, you back it out of your driveway, press the clutch pedal and brake pedal, move the shifter to 1st gear which is usually moving it up, left, and up again. Once you reach say 10mph you push in the clutch and pull the shifter towards you for 2nd gear or possibly even a higher one if you aren't planing on accelerating too much more. When you are almost near the end of your street you are going to push in the clutch and brake pedals, shift down into 1st after looking both was and then let off the clutch and brake to take the turn. At this point you repeat all of these steps multiple times. In an automatic car you get in the car, turn the key, push in the brake pedal and move the shifter directly back into reverse, release the brake, back out of your driveway, brake, move the shifter back into drive, let off the brake, drive down your street till you get to the stop sign then brake, look both ways and turn. If you notice the first paragraph is twice as long as the second one and thats how much more effort you'll have to put into driving if you get a manual.
