Q: I just bought a 545rwhp 03 Cobra (my 2nd 03 Cobra) that currently has a catted Magnaflow X and a Magnaflow catback with stock manifolds. However I want a slightly more aggressive sound, the Magnaflows are a little "bubbly" for me. Now I LOVE the look of an 03-04 Cobra with no tailpipes which would mean dumping the exhaust right after the mufflers and throwing on turndowns/outs. The only thing is I have NO idea how it would sound on my car. When I think of dumps I think of a nasty raspy sound but I've been told it can sound good. I don't want something TOO loud and I don't want anything raspy. Just want the no-tailpipe look with a little more beefy sound. Thanks!

A: on the 4V motors, dumps sound very odd, i cant even describe it. they do sound good on the GT's because of their old 2V roots. the 4V's have (kinda) a "honda scream" at higher rpm's with dumps. its really odd. personally, i think the magnaflows aren't bad. i had flowmaster 40's and then switched to SLP "loudmouth 2's" before finally sticking with flowmaster 20's (they are like 1 or 2 chamber and they sound mean as F#*K!!! if you like the "deep rumble" that you feel in your chest, go flowmaster. if you like waking up everyone in a 5 block radius, go with the loudmouth's!!! but, you will piss off every neighbor in your block. unless they are all gearheads!! either way, do your thing and keep the 4V's dominating out there. i started with a GT and did a 4V swap after i realized their potential. but i went w/ twins instead of the factory eaton blower. their not bad though, considering you can hit the 600 mark with them!! Edit: i forgot to mention i had a catless X pipe, they have more of the "scream" at higher rpms but they are worth it considering they pulse the exhaust gases better than the stock H pipes.
