Q: I am trying to find out for sure if parts in a car are of better quality if they were made in japan as opposed to a plant in America. If you know the answer, can you tell me how you know this? I tried looking online, but most studies show that american plants manufacturing japanese parts are now at par with the quality of japanese since the mid 90's...is that right or are parts made in japan still better? to clarify the Q...Which plant has a better better quality auto parts for the same exact car. For example, If you were looking at say 2 honda cars that were identical except that one was made with parts in japan and other one with parts made in america, is the price difference for the car with the imported parts more expensive b/c of the cost of shipping it over or because the quality is better?

A: It is not where they are made. It is how they are designed. Honda's made in America are just as good as the ones made in Japan. They are made the same way with the same materials. But Japanese design of parts are better. They last longer and work better.
