Q: I am going to get one and I want to know how long the waiting list is...

A: As others have said, I think the waiting list in the US is quite long. Here in Canada I was able to walk onto a lot and buy one, no pre-order. It was the last one available though until September when they would be getting three more, two of which were already sold. I don't know if it would be at all practical for you to consider buying one in Canada and importing it to the US. In terms of maintenance which a previous poster mentioned, I should tell you that they are under full warranty for the first four years or 50,000 miles. Roadside assistance is included when you buy one. And maintenance is recommended only once a year (including oil changes) or 10,000 miles or 15,000 kilometres, so that is far less expensive maintenance than for any vehicle I have ever owned - and that is quite a few. Of course it seats only two people - that fact is well known - so it is obviously suitable only for people for whom that will work. The gas mileage is about the same as a Prius for example, but the advantage is that the maintenance is far less, and the initial cost is several thousands of dollars less - here the difference is almost $10,000. So put your name on the list if it's small size is suitable for you. I like the Smart car tremendously.
