Q: I'm more talking about the more recent models, 2006-2008, although not interested at all in buying a used. I will be buying a new car within the next 6 months.. and I am very interested in the accord. I was just curious about the comfort, ride, MPG.. and anything else. Thanks!

A: Hard to go wrong with HONDA, value, reliability and resale in the mid-size sedan category. I hate to say that I'm not able to say that with conviction about all American brands. I have had 4 Honda's & Acura's and they all have been great. Accord comes in many models with small engines to a larger more powerful V6. MPG and cost vary with options. You are looking at $20,000 for a 4-Cyl 5spd manual and $21,000 auto. EPA est MPG is 22/31 mpg. You can pay $28,000 for a deluxe V6 Accord. If you are going for the most DELUX big engine, bells and whistles, I suggest going up to the Acura or Lexus brands because the Luxury brands cost about that much. If you want a nice basic car, Civic or Accord is hard to beat. Honda does get a good price for their cars, new or used, rarely discounted. If selling your Accord you WILL get good resale. Consider 2008's as the 2009 come out. Consider at least looking at some of the competition in the small mid size sedans: [Toyota Corolla/Camry, Nissan Maxima/Altima, Subaru Legacy, Mazda 6, Hyundai Sonata and American made Ford Taurus, Chevrolet Malibu, Chrysler Sebring, Pontiac G6 or Dodge]. Even the other brands Hyundai, Kia, or Suzuki might have some deals. Just spend some time compariing, but the Honda is a no brainer. Check Consumer Reports at the Library for previous years service history. Personally I'm going for gas milage on my next car, looking for 40 mpg highway epa min, no hybrid, straight gas or diesel. So the Civic 4-door is looking good to me. Next to the Honda I always liked Subaru, which I also have owned. If you need all wheel drive for snow and hills Subaru is the way to go in utility style vehicles, a solid brand. They make a Sedans (Legacy/Impreza) but they also cost more and don't get quite as good of gas milage (due to the all wheel drive & powerful engines). Hyundai use to offer long warranties. Bottom line I am sure you'll never regret the Honda Accord for the money. The resale and reliability will be as good or better than any $20,000 sedan. You can get cheaper or spend a lot more on a Aucra, Lexus, Audi or BMW, but the Honda is solid. The only down side is its common, kind of boring. Boring can be good in a car, no worries and surprises, comfortable and reliable. I don't know your needs, family, where you live and drive or what other vehicles you have. But HONDA Accord is an obvious no brainer choice. Just shop around and research the best prices.
