Q: i have a 94 300zx which has 120,000 miles and it has always had regular oil, 10x-30. I am due for an oil change in about 1500 miles and was wondering if it would be ok for me to switch to synthetic oil for my next change. I hear it gives better performance throughout the rpm range, adds a little gas mileage and keeps the moto running a little lower operating temperature, therfore keeps you motor working better. My only question is if it is safe or not, because i have also heard that switching to synthetic oil on a high mileage car could be risky, and my car runs very strong now with no weird noises or leaks, so if i change will it hurt its durability?
A: I personally would always stick with the manufacturer's recommendations. Or, you should ask a Nissan Dealer that question. I know that if you switch to synthetic, you should stay with synthetic.
