Diesel engine vehicles transformed into gasoline engine, HOW?

Q:

A: This is not easily done. Although these engines are similar, they work very differently. You would need to reduce the engine compression ratio to about 10:1. This would require some custom made pistons and piston rings for the engine as it is doubtful you will find any off the shelf low compression pistons for a diesel. Figure about $200 per piston. You would need to install an ignition system. You would need to locate a suitable location in the cylinder heads to drill and tap a hole for spark plugs. It is unlikely you will be able to put spark plugs in a diesel cylinder head, so you will need to procure a custom made cylinder head that will accept spark plugs. You would need to devise a way to have the ignition system keep time with the engine. A diesel camshaft will not have a distributor timing gear. Figure on about $1000 for the ignition system. Figure on at least $3000 - $5000 per cylinder head. You would need to remove the diesel fuel system and add a gasoline fuel system. A less expensive option would be to agapt a gasoline carburetor. This would cost less than $500. A more expencive option would be to use an aftermarket fuel injection unit. This would cost between $1000 - $1500.
