Q: uhm what excalty is a hybrid?does it take less gas?or no gass? or what? sorry im a sterotypical girl who knows nothing bout cars.

A: Hybrid is a regular car with 2 motors. One is a regular gas engine and one is an electric motor that runs on lithium ion batteries like the ones used in laptops. From 0-20mph or 0-30mph, the car uses the electric motor to move. Any faster and the gas engine turns on to make you go faster. Acceleration uses lots of gas. So the 0-20mph helps a lot with gas mileage since you are not using any gas from 0-20mph. When the gas engine is on at higher speeds, it recharges the battery. The batteries only last 3-7 years depending on how much you drive. The most fuel efficient Hybrid is the Honda Insight made from 2001-2006. It was the first Hybrid in America. It got 60mpg city and 66mpg highway. The following cars are offered in Hybrid and regular gas models: Honda Civic Honda Accord(2007) Toyota Camry Toyota Prius(Only comes as a Hybrid) Mazda Tribute Ford Escape Chevy Silverado Chevy Tahoe Chevy Mailbu GMC Sierra GMC Yukon Cadillac Escalade Saturn Aura Saturn Vue Nissan Altima Porsche Cayenne Lexus RX400h Lexus LS600h Lexus GS400h
