Q: My Vauxhall has been jumping recently when changing up gear and lo and behold it broke down on the motorway, losing all power and wouldn't start. RAC came out and said it could be the fuel pump and he tapped something near this and it started to work again. Problem is it is likely to cut out again. If it was a fuel injection pump should it not work at all? Could it be something electrical? Any help greatly appreciated!!!
A: This is a common problem on the vauxhall astra 1.7 DTI, If you had a diagnostic check you would get a code: P0251 Injection pump A Circuit Malfunction (Cam/rotor/injector) -present. or on vaux com: P0251 -8 Spill Valve Malfunction (Injection Pump) The problem is usually inside in the high-voltage unit, as a bad solder joint. The only easy cure is to replace the fuel pump.
