Q: I was thinking of getting a RHD Skyline from one of those places that import them from Japan. Is everything the same except for it being RHD? Are they good cars? Is the RB26DETT a good motor. When your working on the car, does everything still turn clockwise to tighten and counter clockwise to loosen. Is the gas pedal on the right, and clutch on the left? I used to have a 92' 240sx and I swapped the KA24 for a SR20DET, and a few extra goodies. Are Skylines similar to work on?Thanks in advance =] Also, How would I legalize a RHD Skyline in the US

A: Each model differs from the other as the Skyline has been around since 1957. Myself have owned an R32 and atm own R33 Spec 2 and hopefully moving upto an R34 GTT at next car change. As for everything turning yes it all turns the same as another other nut and bolt etc etc.Pedal wise the clutch is on the left then brake then gas pedal from left to right. Are they good cars def they have become popular this side and also other sides of the World more recently but the Skyline has been a a legend in Japan and countries close to it for many years infact the R32 changed the rules of motor racing due to it winning all the time and rules where changed to stop it taking part. As a car itself they are great and cater for so many needs my version is a 5 seater and has loads of rear leg room as well as plenty of trunk space so an ideal car to use as a daily driver. The GTR which has the power and the RB26 engine is the Daddy of the more recent range other version from this like the v spec and upto the z tune are the ultimate. Other Models like the 4 door versions the single turbo and down to the non turbo models are all great and each appeals to different needs of the buyer, and all recent ones have the RB engines which are bullet proof and capable of mods and some models seeing scary bhp figures. Book figures are a waste of time as these where to keep car regulators happy so top speeds and bhp and well below on paper then they truly are. The RB26 is a great powerful motor and as said will see scary bhp figures but as said other versions are also tunable more gains from the single turbo versions like the RB20det and the RB25DET and down to smaller non turbo version. Budget wise it may pay to look at these cars like the GTS-T GTT version due to already starting of half the price of the GTR models and even less on some models. Driving on the wrong side is easy and myself have driven abroad and driven on the same side as the US in fact it was a 2000 mile road trip in our R32 and i had no problems at all infact it felt wrong to be driving the other way when we go back on our own soil. We used to own a Nissan 180sx s13,and when we got our R32 which was around the same age i was shocked that driving the R32 was just like driving the SX in fact apart from engine power they felt just the same drive,so i wasn't shocked to find out that sx parts can be swapped into an R32 . The Skyline engines haven't been hard to work on although doesn't give a lot of room and simple jobs often require a drive full of pipes and hoses just to do work on other parts of the engine ,but overall fine to work on. Is everything else the same yes i suppose although gear change will be with your left hand which seems better to me as iam right handed and it allows better control of the wheel with my right hand. Other version would be to go for the US version of the Newer Skylines the 350gt US known as the G35/G37. I have loads more info but i had better stop now.
