Q: My 2007 Nissan Murano recommends but doesn't require Premium gas. I started out using the Plus but I want to try to save a little money and go down to regular. Will I notice a big difference in the vehicles performace...whatever performance means...? I didn't buy the car I leased it, don't know if this will make a difference in your response, just thought I'd include that detail.
A: always use the fuel the car needs,if you have been using a higher fuel then needed and revert back then it will be fine,it may take a short while for the ecu to adjust. I would not have thought there would be a noticable difference in performance. If the car was designed for a higher grade fuel then you be better staying with that fuel,as dropping a fuel when it is required does cause problems in the long run and sometimes even in the short term. Not matter what anyone says i have placed a lower grade fuel into a car which requires a higher grade fuel only to be left with car problems. Atm where i live i can only get 97ron fuel which my car is happy with but when iam out of town i goto a garage which sells fuel which is about 100ron and what a difference in power etc the car gets its like to car suddenly gets 100bhp extra.But this is the fuel grade the car is made to run on.
