Q: Have been using the manuel shift lock release switch. The fuse is ok because the back lights work. Hope it's an easy fix.
A: You're in Park but the reverse lights are on? Something isn't clear in your question. Are you parked on a hill? Can you hear or feel a little click when you step on the brake in Park? There is a solenoid that allows you to shift out of Park only when your foot is on the brake. Maybe the brake lights are what you meant. If the solenoid doesn't release, then you aren't going to get it out of Park. The lights are not necessarily indicative that the solenoid is actually engaging.
