Q: I am looking to buy my first car which will hopefully take me to work (15 miles) and back and transport my 8 mth daughter to and fro. Have seen a Nissan Micra - 45,500 miles, 3 door hatchback, red, petrol, manual, with all previous MOTs plus current one. Are these good, safe and reliable cars? What should I look out for?

A: Nissan Micra is an ideal first car. My daughter's first car was a Micra and that was 5 years ago and she's still got it. She loves it. They are very economical to run, easy to drive and totally reliable. You cant beat japanese technology, especially Nissan and Toyota. Whatever you decide on, steer clear of any Fords unless you have a fetish for rust!
